Learning Objectives
- 1. Develop a deeper understanding of the intersection between neuroscience, cultural diversity, and play therapy: During the training, participants will engage in a group discussion where they share their current knowledge and insights regarding neuroscience and cultural diversity in play therapy. At the end of this discussion, each participant should be able to articulate at least one new understanding about the topic.
- 2. Enhance your skills in designing and implementing neurologically sensitive play activities that promote cultural competence, fostering inclusivity and sensitivity in diverse therapeutic settings. During the 2-hour training, participants will collaboratively design and present two neurologically sensitive play activities that promote cultural competence, and will each provide feedback on at least one activity from a peer focusing on inclusivity and sensitivity, ensuring that feedback is both specific and constructive.
- 3. Cultivate a reflective and informed practice by exploring your own cultural background and engage in discussion, empowering participants to apply neuro-inclusive principles effectively in their play therapy work with clients from various cultural backgrounds. During the training, participants will engage in a structured discussion where each will share at least one personal insight about their cultural background and how it influences their practice. Additionally, participants will identify three neuro-inclusive principles they can apply to their work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, documenting these principles in a reflection worksheet to be submitted at the end of the session.
